"And once it fell upon a day
A cold day and a spell,
When we were from the hunting come,
That from my horse I fell,
The Queen o' Fairies she caught me,
In yonder green hill we now do dwell.

The Ballad of Tam Lin is a Scottish folk tale in which a woman saves a human knight who was stolen by the Queen of Faeries. This illustration depicts his original abduction by the Queen of Faeries rather than his rescue.
